Executive Coaching is a professional development process designed to help individuals in leadership roles enhance their performance, develop critical skills, and achieve personal and organisational goals. Our New to Leadership Coaching package is specifically designed for those new to leadership to explore issues of leadership with an executive coach.

Through four one-on-one sessions, your coach will work with you to identify strengths and areas for growth, refine leadership strategies, improve decision-making, and enhance interpersonal and communication skills. The coaching is tailored to your needs, but is predominantly focused on the challenges and opportunities of becoming a new leader. Your coach will offer a supportive and confidential environment for exploring issues, setting actionable goals, and creating a clear plan for personal and professional success. If required, the coach can also integrate mentoring into the relationship, sharing the benefit of their experience as a school leader with you as you develop your own knowledge, skills and behaviours. The aim of this programme is to support you in identifying your own goals and achieving them.
We can support you with issues such as:

  • Developing new leadership skills
  • Developing leadership presence
  • Holding others to account
  • Developing confidence and overcoming imposter syndrome
  • Working through problems or dilemmas
  • Managing challenging professional working relationships
  • Work / life balance
  • Developing self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Identifying and utilising your individual strengths

Will this take place in-person or online?

The programme will usually take place online.

What are the benefits?

The programme can support with a range of specific issues and challenges, but its power lies in the fact that it gives you the agency to identify solutions. This builds capacity and confidence and therefore is transformational in terms of patterns of thoughts and actions. The programme aims to help remove an individual’s barriers to success and develop positive behaviours which enhance leadership effectiveness.

What does the programme offer?

The four sessions can be used flexibly to work on specific goals or topics which are relevant to you as the participant. Within this, most participants will spend the first session exploring their priorities and the remaining three sessions working through the actions agreed to move forward. Coaches have a range of tools which can be used to support with specific areas such as identifying strengths, managing difficult relationship dynamics, and developing emotional intelligence.

Unlike training, the executive coaching on this programme is about developing the individual’s capacity to identify knowledge and work on their skills for themselves. A coach will typically help deepen a coachee’s thinking and exploration of issues by asking questions to get to the heart of the matter at hand. The coach works with the coachee on goals which they establish at the beginning of the relationship and provides accountability and support in the coachee achieving those goals. A coach can also offer feedback to the coachee from an external perspective and challenge them to explore their beliefs, mindsets and motivations. As a result, the programme, not only supports the achievement of specific goals, but can potentially play a transformational role in the development of new ways of thinking, unblocking limiting beliefs and improving leadership capacity.

Who will the coaches be?

At LLSE we believe that those involved in coaching school leaders, should themselves be experienced in education and educational leadership. We, therefore, require all coaches to have current or recent experience of working with educational leaders. Most of our coaches are current or recently serving school leaders themselves, so are used to working to support senior leaders. Our coaches also have a variety of qualifications and accreditations in coaching to ensure that they are effective executive coaches.

Our coaches come from a vast array of backgrounds and so cover all phases and school types and have had experiences of working with a huge range of leadership issues. Our aim is to match you with the coach best suited to meet your specific needs. View all profiles for coaches here.

How frequently will the sessions be?

You and your coach will agree that between you. Some people may want a very quick succession of sessions to deal with a specific issue, or to quickly undertake induction to their new role; others may want to work with a coach over a year or longer developing their skills. Once you have bought the package you can arrange this to suit your needs.
