Positive Education is an approach to schooling that combines traditional academic learning with the science of well-being. It is rooted in Positive Psychology and was popularised by researchers like Martin Seligman. At its core, Positive Education ask a simple question: What if schools taught students and staff not just how to succeed, but how to thrive? Positive Education has been shown to have positive impact on learning, well-being and behaviour.

This programme is designed to help you understand how to apply the principles of positive psychology to education.
It has been specifically designed for those with a PGCE or equivalent Level 7 credits. This means that if you have 60 credit at Level 7, you will normally be able to count these towards the MA, reducing both the cost and the workload in achieving the qualification.
Designed for experienced professionals who already hold a PGCE or equivalent Level 7 credits, this innovative programme builds on your PGCE and enables you to achieve a Master's qualification.
This part-time programme of study is designed for those in full-time employment. You will join a diverse learning community of educators, leaders and practitioners committed to helping educators and learners flourish.
The MA Positive Education is distinctive in combining the science of wellbeing and positive psychology with educational practice, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and research expertise to enhance learning, resilience, wellbeing and achievement in your own context. Whether you are looking to advance your career or make a greater impact on those you support, this programme offers a unique opportunity to combine professional development with meaningful academic study.
As practitioners and learners, you will consider ways to support and develop wellbeing as an integral part of education. You will examine topics and theories related to self-care and wellbeing, critically consider evidence-based interventions in education and have the opportunity to plan and implement a research project of your own choice and setting.
Through the programme, you will also engage in research and will have the chance to introduce a research-based intervention. Course content can properly prepare you for a role after graduation in a range of different careers including primary, early and secondary education, and many of our graduates have gone on to have successful careers in these areas.
