Helping schools and trusts turn assessment data into action

SAM Learning is an award-winning online learning, revision and assessment platform for primary and secondary schools. It helps leaders and teachers see exactly where students are losing marks, set targeted work to close the gaps and reduce the time teachers spend on marking and analysis.

About SAM Learning

SAM Learning supports primary and secondary schools in the UK and internationally, covering KS2, KS3 and GCSE (including iGCSE). Its platform offers more than 10,000 online activities across all major GCSE, KS3 and KS2 subjects, aligned to the main exam boards.

Its impact is independently evidenced. A nine-year series of studies commissioned by the Education Endowment Foundation and completed by FFT analysed around 300,000 students across around 250 schools. Published in June 2020, it found that students who completed 10 or more task hours in an academic year improved on average by one GCSE grade in at least two subjects, equivalent to a +0.2 Progress 8 improvement.

SAM Learning's work has been recognised with a BESA Award (2025), Teach Secondary Awards (2023 and 2024) and an ERA 2026 award for Collaboration Between School & Supplier, won with Leigh Academies Trust.

How they help schools and trusts?

Turning mock data into intervention. Student Progress turns mock and assessment marks into colour-coded Question Level Analysis heatmaps in minutes, showing exactly where marks were lost by question, topic, class and student. It then sets targeted follow-up work for each student automatically, with no manual analysis, no resource creation and no extra marking.

Consistency across a trust. Every department and school can analyse assessments the same way, and data can feed a trust's central dashboard. Leigh Academies Trust piloted Student Progress in three schools and now uses it across 17 secondary academies and a special school, with 218+ trust-wide QLA exam sheets created.

Personalised learning and homework. Adaptive weekly challenges are tailored to each student's strengths and gaps, work is marked automatically, saving teachers time and providing immediate feedback.

Revision and exam preparation. Revise, Test, Exam Papers and Exam Essentials activities, plus GCSE and KS3 revision bundles at Foundation and Higher KS2 also includes SATs skills and knowledge.

Engaging parents. Parent & Guardian View shows families the work set, what's been completed, what's overdue and how their child is scoring by subject.

Simple to set up. SAM Learning connects to the school's MIS so classes and groups are created automatically and each school is supported by a dedicated School Success Manager and CPD. A fully supported 30-day pilot is available.
